Sentinel Building A Maverick Tradition Continues

Welcome to our new home! First at Hyde Street Studios, and then in Jackson Square, for over 18 years Earwax has offered a high-end production environment for every kind of project -- both large and small. Now we're proud to announce our relocation to the legendary Sentinel Building, home of Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope Studios. Located at 916 Kearny Street, in the heart of San Francisco's historic North Beach, we're easily reached via the nearby downtown BART/MUNI lines, as well as the major highways from the Peninsula and the East Bay.

ViewWe run full Pro Tools TDM systems, with multiple third-party plug-ins. Microphones available include Sennheisers and Neumanns, among others. Our 5.1 time code-based mixing rooms and recording booths are located at Kearny Street and Potrero Hill. In addition, edit/assemble workstations (catering to projects in all media) are located at satellite locations throughout the Bay Area.

StudioThe Sentinel Building site was conceived to produce Coppola's own projects. In recent years, new equipment, personnel, rooms, and alliances have been added to enable the facility to service outside projects. This expansion has created a unique center in the heart of San Francisco that offers production support and full post-production services.

The copper clad 1907 flatiron building is at the crossroads of Chinatown, North Beach, Barbary Coast/Jackson Square, and the Financial District, with convenient access to production locations and stages (Treasure Island, Alameda Naval Air Station), great restaurants and hotels. The Sentinel Building features offices for producers, directors and writers as well as sound and picture editing rooms, video transfer, a screening room, and a sound mixing studio. The ground floor is now the home of the new Cafe Niebaum-Coppola, a bistro and wine shop satellite of the Niebaum-Coppola Estate Winery in the Napa Valley.
